Unknown vehicle just randomly shown up in my account!

A Mercedes 250 GLA has just shown up as one of my vehicles in QBSE. I haven’t added it and no one else has access to my account- so how had it got there?! Has this happened to anyone else? I’ve changed the password to my account just in case someone has managed to somehow hack in. This is particularly annoying ad its impossible to permanently remove vehicles from QBSE.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, shamilt1.

I can see how the unusual behavior happening in your vehicle list alters your mileage tracking. Let's connect you to the appropriate channel that can address your concerns on time.

We'll have to review your account setup, including vehicles added to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). This is to determine why there's a Mercedes 250 GLA added to your vehicle list.

That said, I recommend contacting our QBSE Support Team. They'll conduct further investigation into this matter and discuss the details of the source of the issue. Then, help implement the permanent resolution.

Regarding the vehicle, let's inactivate it to prevent it from showing in your account. Here's how:

  1. In your company, go to the Gear icon and select Vehicle info.
  2. Click the Mercedes 250 GLA.
  3. From there, tap the Vehicle no longer in use button.

After performing these steps, it will show under the Inactive section. If you wish to change or enter a vehicle used for work, see this article for detailed instructions: Update vehicle info in QuickBooks Self-Employed

Furthermore, you can follow the solutions in these resources to troubleshoot work trip issues:

Reach out to me again if you have additional concerns or questions about your vehicle and mileage tracking. I'm always ready to assist you further.

I've had the same today but a Skoda Octavia - luckily no mileage added.

Like you, I changed my password immediately. On with the chat team now to try to find out why/how, but it is unnerving.

Thanks for raising this!

Interesting to hear that someone else has this problem, must be some sort of bug. Good luck with the online chat- my experience of that is extremely poor!

What I can’t understand is that the Quickbooks app seems to have an update just about every week, yet certain problems which should be easy enough to fix just don’t get resolved. For example, being able to remove a vehicle from your account….it’s impossible!

Well, I got cut off by 2 people twice who joined the chat and then left, then it took a while. I'll say no more on that as she was nice.

And I don't use the app. So now I have to ask my accountant if they added a vehicle randomly to my accounts today, even though they did my books in July so have no reason to be clicking into my QB.

Good luck your end too - I think they have an issue that needs resolving

Obviously still not sorted this out. All the updates they do, almost weekly, and still we can’t remove a vehicle…and why does a random one get added anyway!! They emailed today to say they’re now putting the monthly price up! Might be trying ZOHO books next tax year.
