Windows 11 begins rolling out on October 5th and my understanding is that it will neither include nor support Internet Explorer. I believe Quickbooks desktop requires IE in order to work. Anyone know if this is the case or not?
Welcome to the Community, @richardhwi. I'll take care of this query for you.
From a Microsoft blog, the Internet Explorer 11 app will retire on the 15th of June, 2022. It also states that Microsoft Edge will have Internet Explorer mode. It allows users to access legacy Internet Explorer-based websites and apps.

Win11 has now launched. I do hope Intuit are prepared for the new operating system and has been testing Quickbooks leading up to the launch.
Intuit will release QBD 2022 officially next week and it only supports Win 64 bit. In their latest system requirements document, QBD 2022 Windows version only supports Win 8.1 and 10. I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to wait until next year to support Win 11. Afaik, MSFT will offer the updates to existing Windows 10 users should start coming at the start of 2022, and MSFT hopes to have offered Windows 11 to every compatible machine by mid-2022.
Well it’s all irrelevant now isn’t it seen as they are dropping Desktop.
They are still offering QBD 2022 with new features but mostly focused for the US market. We are helping many QBO users switch back to QBD.
I would like to know if Quickbooks 2016 Desktop will continue to work on Windows 11. It currently works on Windows 10. I see mention that it requires Internet Explorer to work, and Explorer will have an end date of June 2022, but, Edge will offer some IE functions by turning on some flag in Edge.
All this is nice to know, BUT, if I upgrade to Windows 11 now, will Desktop 2016 continue to work for the foreseeable future?

I'm happy to share some information with you about the QuickBooks Desktop system requirements.
Each QuickBooks Desktop version has its system requirements. Currently, QuickBooks Desktop 2016 is not supported already. We cannot guarantee that it will work when Internet Explorer ends.
You can consult an IT expert to ask for a piece of advice, or you can also upgrade to the latest version.
If you decide to upgrade, check this article for more information: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.
Here are the system requirements for the recent versions:
Should you need any further information about system requirements, please don't hesitate to get back to me.

I wouldn't recommend to run an outdated QB Desktop version on any supported Win OS (i.e Win 8.1 or later version). You can upgrade to Win 11 and yet you should install and run your QBD 2016 in compatibility mode Win 7. You can also still buy QBD 2019 UK version with a one time license if required to upgrade your version.
