Hi, Figures454.
Your browser may have cache issues like misconfigured internet files that causes the system to show misplaced buttons. To isolate this, I suggest running QuickBooks Online (QBO) on a private browser.
Here's how:
- Run QuickBooks on a supported browser.
- Follow these steps to enable incognito or private browsing mode keyboard shortcuts:
*Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
*Mozilla Firefox: press Shift + Ctrl + P
*Microsoft Edge version 75 or newer: press Shift + Ctrl + N
*Safari version 12 or higher: press Shift + ā + N
- Login to QuickBooks Online.
From there, merge the accounts. But before that, please see this article first to know what to do before combining them into one: Merge duplicate accounts, customers, and suppliers in QuickBooks Online.
Here's how:
- Click the Gear icon and then select Switch to Accountant view.
- Go to Settings (Gear) and then select Chart of accounts.
- Find the account that you want to merge with the account that will remain active.
- Click the Triangle button beside Account history, then select Edit.
- Make sure the Account Type, Detail Type, and Name matches with the account that you want to merge with.
- Click Save and Close.
- Hit Yes.
If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache to clean the memory. This way, it will download new data from online servers like QBO and other online services you use that help optimize the browser's performance.
Alternatively, you can run QuickBooks Online on another supported browser.
Once all is good, you'll want to check the Manage default and special accounts in your QuickBooks Online chart of accounts article to know what accounts you can't deactivate and edit.
Later, if you wish to run reports and still see deleted accounts from your QBO data, please visit the Remove deleted accounts from reports article to learn more.
