Can reports exported to PDF be made consistently A4 page size?

Particular offenders are the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports, which always export slightly larger than A4 page size and have to be manually resized before they can go into reports.

And payslips, which are a massive 17.22 x 24.36 inches for some bizarre reason. Even bigger than A3. Who wants to print their payslip as a poster??!!

That would be a great addition to the current features that we have, @Gyzmo1012

Having the feature to set the page size and set it as default for your reports is indeed a great idea, so I'm taking note of this to be considered in future updates.

You can also send one by going to the Help menu and choosing Feedback from the Gear icon. You can send your product suggestions there.

Hello there, richard96.

When exporting reports to PDF in your QBO account, the page size will remain, and there isn't an option to adjust the page size within your account. When you try to print the downloaded PDF, that would be the time you'll have an option to select the size you want. Let's take a look at this sample screenshot:

About the payslips, we're unable to configure QuickBooks to automatically use the paper size you want, you will need to toggle the print settings manually or in adobe reader if that is the download tool you use.

You may want to check our blog website for more updates about  added and enhanced features.

Please let me know if you have other questions. I'm here to help in any way that I can.

I don't get that preview window in my QuickBooks. It's just a blank space. Also, I don't want to print the reports, I want to save them to PDF for audit trail and/or appending to reports and Board minutes.

But I found the fix (I think). If I disable 'smart page breaks' I get an A4 size PDF. It's only when 'smart page breaks' are enabled that the page size expands to various random dimensions, depending on the report. I will test it across a few companies but I think this is where the bug is.

Also - the P60 payroll reports are the wrong width - 13.89 inches instead of 11.69 inches. Can this be fixed?

Let's make sure that you're able to view the preview window so you can save your reports, richard96.

You'll want to make sure to allow pop-up blockers. Then, update and repair Adobe Reader so you'll be able to preview the page. To do this, you can follow the steps below.

  1. Close Acrobat/Reader and all open web browser windows.
  2. Select the Start button at the bottom left of your screen.
  3. Type Control Panel, then press Enter.
  4. Select Programs and Features.
  5. Select Acrobat or Adobe Reader, then Uninstall/Change.
  6. In the Setup dialog box, select Next.
  7. Select Repair, then Next.
  8. Select Install.
  9. When the process is complete, select Finish.
  10. Restart your computer.Log back into QuickBooks Online, then try to preview the page.

In addition, you'll want to ensure that you're using the correct paper size, so you'll have some options to choose from for your P60 payroll reports. You can also select the Fit to paper option on the preview settings to make sure that your report fits the paper size that you've selected. I've attached a screenshot so you'll be visually guided.

For your reference, you can customise reports in QuickBooks Online by applying multiple filters to make sure that it only shows the desired information.

Please feel free to reply to this thread if you have any other concerns in saving and previewing reports. I'll always be right here to assist you further.

The problem was in the Firefox settings. I changed the action for application/pdf to 'Open in Firefox' and the preview window works. But I didn't want to print the reports - I wanted to save them as an A4 size PDF. Turning off 'smart page breaks' seems to fix this, so all reports are correctly A4 page size, as I said above.

There is no option like this for P60's unfortunately. These are tax certificates rather than reports. And the only option is to save them as PDF, which has the wrong page width. This causes problems when employees try to print them, if they don't know about the print settings in Adobe Reader. Why can't these be standard A4 page size and then everyone's life will be easy? QuickBooks shouldn't make life harder for everyone by using random, non-standard page sizes.

Agree with Richard96.
Have applied the "Repair" to Acrobat - Doesn't work.
Quarto Size is not a global standard.
ISO Sized documents are.
When are Quickbooks going to catch up with the rest of the planet?!
