Exporting data / data retention after disengagement from client

Hi there,

Looking for advice on the best way to export all the necessary data, that I am legally required to retain for 7 years?

I have disengaged from the client, and don't intend to keep paying the monthly QB subscription for 7 years, so would like to export all of the data.

Any advice on the best way to do this, and any possible pitfalls, would be really appreciated?

I have contacted QB customer services already, and there is no simple way to do this.....

Let me provide some ways how to export data from QuickBooks, @info1200.

You can export reports and lists into individual Excel files contained in a zip format in one process. To proceed, here's what you need to do:

  1. Choose the Settings ⚙ icon from the tool bar.
  2. Under Tools, click Export Data.
  3. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by toggling the slider.
  5. Click Export to Excel.

Once done, you'll be prompted with confirmation that the data has been exported. For more info, you may also check out this article: Export data, reports, lists, and more from QuickBooks Online.

Another option is that you may utilize a third party app that can help export all your data. I suggest you visit the QuickBooks Apps site and look for an app that meets your business needs. You can also do this inside your company, just go to Apps on the left panel and then enter a keyword in the search field.

Moreover, let me share this link to additionally guide you in getting your data out of QuickBooks Online.

Fill me in if you have other concerns about managing your data files in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you always. Keep safe!
