I work for a non-profit and we use classes to track money for each separately-funded project we do (i.e. one class per funder/project).
If we finish a project with an underspend then there is a positive balance left in that class.
How do I 'move' that remaining balance into a different class?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I've already tried that but when I go to the Profit and Loss by Class Report nothing has changed.
*edit* I had tried it using a wash account which was a solution found elsewhere. It DOES work if you use the original account that the money came into (in our case "Grant Income").
Thank you!
Hello Finance21,
Welcome to the Community page,
So you could use a journal to move it from the account it is in with the old class, back to the account it is in but with a different class. So the account on both lines would be the same, but the classes would be different on each line.
If you are unsure on how to do the journal entry for it, you will need to speak to an accountant who will be able to help you do it.
