Hello Dlale,

Hi,
have there been any changes on this?
I'm in the same boat. I've gotten around it with VB code to open the xls and save it as an xlsx, but I'd really like to get rid of that step for a couple reasons. Since when you manually export to Excel it creates an xlsx, I don't know why the scheduled one is different.
Alternatively, exporting as a csv would also work.
Thanks
We're glad to have you here joining this thread, Snewcomb. I'll share information to ensure you're able to export scheduled reports in a .xlsx file format.
As I've tried replicating it on my end, I was able to run and export a schedule report using the .xlsx file type. The process does not require me to go through a .xls format. That said, there are times when stored cache files can cause an interruption while using our feature in your regular browser.
To help you fix this, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to identify any browser-related issues. You can refer to these keyboard shortcuts to open one:
If these reports are exported as .xlsx file types, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache.
Moreover, I'm adding this reference to guide you if you'd want to import lists of your business products and services: Import products and services into QuickBooks Online. This way, you'll able to track and categorise your company's services.
Let us know if you have additional questions about exporting scheduled reports in QBO. We'd always be here, willing to help. Take care!
I thought I had replied to this, but apparently not.
Sorry, I wasn't referring to running it within the app. I'm referring to the Excel files that are attached when I get the daily email. These are still in xls format. Worse, some of them are corrupted. So, I have to have a process open and resave them. After that they can be read externally.
Let me provide some details about the Excel file that is attached when receiving an email, snewcomb.
Before we start, do you want to receive the file in another file format instead of the XLS format? At the moment, the files you received are only available in XLS. You'll want to convert them to another file.
You can also let our product team know how this feature helps your business by sending feedback from our Customer Feedback page. You can click on the Give feedback option to enter our request. I've attached a screenshot for your visual guide:
Also, one of the reasons why your file gets corrupted is that Excel isn't updated. You'll want to update Excel to the latest version so it would work seamlessly in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Furthermore, QuickBooks offers several reports that cater to your business need. You'll have to customise them to get the information you need most for your business. I've added this article for more details: Customise Reports In QuickBooks Online.
Let me know if you have any questions about file formats or anything about QuickBooks. I'll always be right here to help you.
Could we have a sensible reply to this issue from a human, not ChatGPT?
Yeah, the please upgrade to the latest version of Excel was a nice touch... xls files were replaced by xlsx in like 2003!
