Hello Sam, The UK Self Employed product, unfortunately, needs an email address in that box in order to save it. the first answer on this thread was related to the US version which has an edit customer info box which the UK version of QBSE does not. If you are not planning on sending the invoices and just downloading them as a pdf you could add your own email in the box so the invoice saves.
Hi Alice.
Welcome to the Community forum. I'm here to help you with creating an invoice without a customer email address in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).
When recording an invoice in QBSE, you can remove the customer's email address, then save or print the invoice and email them to your customer from your email address. I'll guide you with the detailed steps.
Once done, you can either download or print the invoice. Then, open your email address, then attach and send it from there.
For more hints about handling your invoices in QBSE, you can open this article: How to send or record an invoice.
Aside from invoices, you can also categorise your income and expenses to put them to the correct line of your Schedule C categories. To know more, you can check out this link: Categorise transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
If you have any other follow-up questions about creating invoices in QBSE, please let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!
It will not allow me to "save" any customer details or invoice without an email address entered.
I appreciate you for getting back to us, Alice.
Allow me to chime in and provide additional insights on how to save an invoice without your customer email.
I recommend accessing your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account on a private or incognito window. From there, follow the steps shared by my peer above.
The browser uses cache data to load web pages faster. When this gets piled up, it can cause unusual behaviour that affects the performance of your account. Using a private window help us identify the issue as this doesn't save any junk files.
To open an incognito window, you can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:
If you’re able to save the invoice without an email address, I’d suggest clearing your regular browser's cache to refresh the system. If the issue persists, I recommend using other supported browsers so we can check if this is a browser-integrated issue.
Once everything looks good, you'll want to categorise your transactions in line with your Schedule C categories.
You're always welcome to post a reply if you any other concerns about invoices. I'll be around to back you up!
Hi, I've tried to follow instructions on this post, but I'm also unable to save an invoice w/o an email address in QB Self Employed.
In the original post, it says create invoice and then hit "add customer". My create invoice screen doesn't have this option, it just has two fields: Customer Name and Customer Email. If Customer Email is blank, it doesn't let me proceed.
I also opened a Chrome Incognito window as suggested in your post, but this didn't change the issue.
Any suggestions please?
Many thanks.
