Hello there.
Let's go to the Transaction menu's Receipt tab (on a web browser) or the Receipt snap option (on an iOS or Android device) to categorise your snapped receipts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Your receipts are not in your books yet after snapping them to QuickBooks. You'll still have to review, edit, add, or match them to your existing transactions. If you wish to know which category or accounts you'll route them to, I encourage you to consult your accountant.
Once you're ready, here's how to review your snapped receipts on a web browser:
- Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions, then select Receipts.
- In the For review tab, you can review your uploaded receipts. QuickBooks lets you know if it finds existing transactions in your books that match your uploaded receipts.
- Check the labels in the Action column to know what steps (create a bill, expense, or match) you need to take next.
In case you want to review your snapped receipts on an iOS or Android device, please see this articles' Review, add, or match receipts and
bills section for the complete guide: Upload your receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online.
Also, I encourage you to reconcile your accounts in QBO regularly (every month). This helps monitor your income and expense transactions and detect possible errors accordingly. You may want to check out this article to guide you in doing and fixing reconciliations in QBO: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.
I'm all ears if you have other concerns about uploading receipts and managing bills and expenses in QBO. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care always.
