Recovering your invoice with matching credits in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is my priority, and I'm here to show you how, @jon98.
When you've deleted an invoice, its attached payment will automatically show as an unapplied transaction. To recover them, you'll first have to gather the deleted invoice's information through the Audit Log page. Then, recreate it and attach the unapplied payment.
To access the audit log, make sure to sign in as admin and do the following:
Once you're done, recreate the invoice using the data you've gathered. Then, reapply the unapplied payment (shows as credit). Here's how:
Then, I'd recommend pulling up the Invoices and Received Payments report. This will help you effectively monitor the payments you've received and the invoices that go with them. You can do this by going to the Who owes you, a section from the Reports menu's Standard tab.
Also, you can use reports to effectively monitor your sales and other income transactions in QBO. You can learn more about this by checking out this article: Reports Help Articles for QuickBooks Online. It includes topics about financial and stock reports and customising them, to name a few.
