Hello Finance57

That sounds like American date formatting. If you are uploading a CSV if you go to the CSV and then on the column with the dates in,right click on the top of the column and go to format cells>date>select date range>apply. Then save the CSV and go back to QuickBooks and browse to the file and then when you map it select the same date range

Any problems at all just reply back here

Hi Emma

Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is American date formatting that the csv file is reverting to. I suspect something has not been set up correctly at the bank because their dating on csv exports is inconsistent. I have tried all sort of ways to correct the date before uploading the csv file to QB, including the method you have suggested. I have also tried converting the exported csv file from the bank into Excel, correcting the dates, then resaving as a csv file, and uploading that QB. No joy: the file still reverts to the American date format. This is intensely frustrating because it makes reconciliation a nonsense! Is there a way to alter the date within Quickbooks? If not, I will have to revert to manually inputting the information from the bank statements, instead of using csv import until such time as the bank sorts out it's formatting issue. Many thanks for your help.

@finance57

Explore the importer tool. When you are mapping the raw data (i.e CSV), make sure to set the date format as needed.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for replying. I've tried that, too. Did not work.

There is definitely an issue with the bank: I have double-checked transactions for this month so far: some transactions are formatted correctly for UK date; others are formatted for USA date. Sloppy formatting at their end!

Hello Finance57

Which bank is this with? This is not great no,it makes it hard to reformat.

What we can do is email you using the email address you set up the Community with if you could then email us back  with the CSV so we can test and make sure we can get it to upload before emailing you it back we will then delete it.

Thanks

Hi Emma

That sounds a good idea: I am about to go on holiday until January 6th so, it will be best to do the testing in the new year. I will message you when I am back at work. The bank is The Co-operative Bank!

Best wishes

Hi Becky

Thank you for your reply. I broke a finger over the holiday! So I am going to ask my colleague to help me do  the .csv emailing - typing is not easy one-handed.

I've found QBSE is doing this to my receipts. (nothing to do with my bank). QBSE logs 90% as DDMMYYYY then flips some to MMDDYYYY. Amazingly frustrating. Have you had any luck with your issue?

Hi,

If you're referring to downloaded bank transactions instead of those imported through a CSV file, then it's a possible browser-related issue.

The stored cache on your browser is the common cause of unusual behaviours. To isolate this, open your browser's private window.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Proceed with logging in to your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) company via the private browser. If that works, clear your browser's cache. Otherwise, open an alternative browser that's available for you.

In case you'd like to remove your online banking data in your QBSE company, refer to this article: Delete bank and transaction data in QuickBooks Self-Employed. It lists the steps on how you can proceed from a browser or mobile device.

Should you have any other questions, leave them in the comments below. I'll get back to you.
