Hello Accounts459, Thanks for letting us know that you have managed to get the feed to show gross amounts. We can pass on your feedback to our banking team. With historical transactions you can import a CSV more information on that here
I have resolved this for now, by using the EU Paypal feed that has the transaction value set as the gross amount rather than net amount.
My experience of this is that each countries Paypal feed is set up differently and it would seem dealt with by a different team rather than being standardised.
Since moving to QBO, when Paypal Bank feeds have worked, they have changed format in 3 different ways:
- Gross amount as transaction line and fee amount as separate transaction line. (my preferred option)
Impact: Paypal transactions can be matched to invoice/receipt and fees can be added with one click (Add)
- Gross amount as transaction line, with fees not in feed
Impact: Paypal transactions can be matched to invoice/receipt. Fees can be added as one monthly transaction when reconciling against Paypal Statement. (Not quite though as any invoices paid through the Paypal invoicing function will have the fee amount as a separate transaction and these need to be de-selected to calculate the missing fee amount.)
- Net amount with gross amount in Memo Field (current behaviour as of 14/4/21)
Impact: Paypal transactions cannot be matched to invoice/receipt, unless they are manually processed through undeposited and the fee amount manually added to each transaction.
It seems to me that as different customers want to account for these in different ways, regardless of how QBO setup the feed it will not suit some customers, so there will always be customer complaints that it does not suit.
I would suggest that either, an option is given within the feed to setup the columns, the same as if you were manually uploading. The fields can they be mapped as each customer wants. Or setup 3 different feeds to select the mapping required.
In the meantime, the EU Paypal feed is set with the Gross amount as the transaction amount, so at least I can match transactions again. Does not seem to allow me to grab historical transactions though.
