QB Self-Employed - Deleted invoice being emailed days later

This all takes place using QuickBooks Self-Employed web-based.

 

I created an invoice on 3/11. I put my own email address in the client email box (basically, I send myself the invoice and then convert it to a PDF before attaching it to an email to the client) and clicked send. The email arrived into my inbox pretty much immediately.

 

Later, on speaking with the client, it became apparent that they no longer required the service that I was invoicing for, so I deleted the invoice from QuickBooks.

 

This morning (6/11), the deleted invoice has appeared in my in-box! I checked that it had definitely been deleted on 3/11 and on checking the email header, the sender is shown as "uk.selfemployed.intuit.com". It looks as if QuickBooks has somehow taken it upon itself to email out a deleted invoice. Unless I'm missing something. 

 

Any ideas how I can stop this happening again?

This is quite unusual, especially since the invoice was deleted days before it was automatically re-sent, @SRBaxter.

 

Please remember that QuickBooks doesn't send emails on its own. However, it's definitely not normal behavior for a deleted invoice to be sent later.

 

First, could you let me know if anyone else has access to your account using the same login credentials?

 

If so, they may have created another invoice, selected the same client, and inadvertently clicked the Send invoice button. This would have automatically populated the entire page with the last invoice you sent to that client and sent it to your email address, particularly because you entered your own email in the client's email field. To verify, please check the Invoices menu and check if the invoice is listed there.

 

If you confirm that no one else has accessed your account and the invoice is not there, I recommend contacting our Live Support Team directly. They have the necessary tools to investigate this matter further and identify the root cause to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks for the response.

Only I have access to the account (I'm a sole trader) and have a long and complex password together with 2FA. I'm satisfied that it's a QuickBooks issue.

Looking at the email header, it definitely originated from QuickBooks. I can't copy and paste the full email header here as the forum platform strips out anything that looks like an email address. The sender comes up as:

 

Received: from o16.ptr6386.intuit.com (o16.ptr6386.intuit.com. [167.89.112.131])

 

Which definitely implicates that it originated at the QuickBooks end.

It's not a major issue for me, but it might be for someone else.
