i am typing the same description too often, this seems stupid

can i create a list for description field on an invoice

I recognize how important creating a list for description is to you, and I'm here to ensure we find a solution, @tenniscourtmaker.

 

We are currently unable to create a list for the description field on the invoice. Alternatively, rather than manually entering the description each time, you can set up the description once within this list and simply select and edit the corresponding item when preparing the invoice.

 

Here's how to edit the Products and Services item list for descriptions:

 

  1. Click the My apps button on the left.
  2. Select Sales and get paid.
  3. Choose Products and services.
  4. Click the Edit button in the right corner.
  5. Fill in the details of the product or service, for example, Consulting fee.
  6. In the Description field, type the complete, standard description you use repeatedly, for example, Consulting fee.
  7. Click Save.

 

While creating a new invoice, enter the name of the item in the Product/Service column and select it from the drop-down menu. QuickBooks will then automatically fill in the detailed description and associated rate or price for that line item.
