Can not seem to import CSV file into quickbooks

Hello, Elliott5.

You may encounter this error when the CSV file’s format is incorrect, or the template doesn’t meet the specific requirements. QuickBooks Self-Employed can import CSV files that use either a 3-column or 4-column format.

To seamlessly import the data, check the following information:

  • Remove zeroes (0) from the file and leave those cells blank.
  • Select the column header labels (from the dropdowns) that match the column header labels in your CSV file.
  • The file should contain the following information: Date, Description, and Amount.

For more information about formatting restrictions, check out the Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files article.

If the file format is already properly map, you can now import transactions again. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to your QBSE account to access the Transactions tab.
  2. Click the drop-down menu next to Add transaction.
  3. Select Import transactions and make sure it's the same account where you downloaded the data.
  4. Choose Import older transactions under the Action column.
  5. Click the Browse button and locate the file you've exported above.
  6. Select Include all transactions and then review your transactions.
  7. Hit the Continue button and click OK then Done.

Additionally, the following article provides an overview about exporting data transactions in QBSE: Export your data from QuickBooks Self-Employed

Once the importing process is done, you can now assign the transactions to the specific category. For more information, please visit this article: Categorise and edit transactions.

As always, you can find me here if you have any other questions and concerns about bank transactions. Stay safe and healthy.

Can not seem to import CSV file into quickbooks

@Elliott5

Another option, utilize the csv2qbo converter tool as a workaround.
