Hello, @BobS_50.

Let me share some information on how to make sure that you're able to successfully capture and track your receipts in QuickBooks.

When using the receipt capture feature in your mobile app, the quality of the captured image depends on your device's camera. Depending on the mobile device you're using, here are the possible reasons why you're getting blurry captured receipts:

  • The long shutter speed of your mobile device can capture camera shake, which would produce a blurry image.
  • Your subject may have been slightly moved, causing a motion blur, made worse by a long shutter speed.
  • You may have a bad lens or a lens that is not capable of producing sharp photos
  • The ISO setting in your mobile device may have been set to a very high number, resulting in lots of noise and loss of detail.
  • Lastly, you'd want to make sure that your QuickBooks Online mobile app is updated to the latest version.

Also, QuickBooks supports PDFs and jpeg, jpg, gif, or png image formats when attaching receipts. You can read through this article for more detailed information about the process: Capture and categorise receipts and bills.

Hello BobS_50,

Welcome to the Community page,

Have you had any issues with other options, emailing through several images or attaching the photos instead in Quickbooks?

What happens with the ones that fail?

It's so it consistent...

It says its too blurry when it isn't

They rotate and crop as per attached screen shot

It can say there is a fail to upload when it hasn't

It can fail to up load when it shows a  successful upload

So I end up taking 3 or f images and have to select and delete them on my PC

To have to email a photo or take a scan of each image would create even more over head to my book keeping tasks!!!
