Hello there, adm.

QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed are separate software designed for different user needs. Since they are different products, you cannot directly transfer data or convert your subscription from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

You must cancel your existing QuickBooks Online subscription if you want to switch from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Self-Employed. After that, you can sign up for a new QuickBooks Self-Employed account.

Let me outline the complete process:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary or company admin.
  2. Go to Settings, then Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Make sure your payment info is up to date.
  4. In the QuickBooks Online section, select Downgrade your plan.
  5. Review the available plans and then select Choose Plan.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to downgrade your plan.

To cancel your current QuickBooks subscription and switch to QuickBooks Self-Employed while keeping your data, follow these steps:

Since there is no direct way to transfer data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), before canceling your QBO subscription, export your company data by exporting the report to Excel. This will create a backup file of your financial information.

Once everything is ready, you can import the file you exported earlier to transfer your data into the new QuickBooks Self-Employed account.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Imports.
  3. Select an account and click on the Import Older transactions link under Action.
  4. Follow the instructions onscreen to finish importing your data.
  5. Click Import.

This process ensures you can seamlessly transition to QuickBooks Self-Employed while retaining all your important financial records from your previous QuickBooks subscription for future reference.
