Importing Invoices Error

Hi,

I use QBO in the UK.

Everyday I manually type the previous days invoices and have decided to try importing to save time.

However, the first time I tried to import I had the following message (pic 1 below) 'Item/product invalid' I was a bit confused the product is already on QB so I didn't want to enable 'add new products/services' and have a duplicate. I had a look at the current products/services on the account and I can see that they're all there. Anyway I couldn't figure out why the message was there so I gave up and selected 'Add new products/services' (I saw that I could merge them at a later date).

I tried to import the invoices again, I got further than the previous time but the results (pic 2) clearly show that there's a problem as none of the invoices were added and it couldn't add an item.

I really don't know what to do, does anyone have any ideas?!

Many thanks

Importing Invoices Error

Hello Jo505,

Thanks for them screenshots so in your Quickbooks it is a subcategory as you have Labour and then Labour again.

On your excel document you need to put Labour:Labour and for the material ones you would need to do Labour:Material this will then import the invoices for you.

Let us know how you get on but you shouldn't have any issues though.

Importing Invoices Error

Hello Jo505,

Thanks for reaching out to us on the Community page,

On your categories have you by any chance done them as a sub-category if so you would need to put the name of what what that sub-category is on the excel document and then import them back in.

Let us know how you get on.

Importing Invoices Error

Hi Ashleigh,

I don't think I have set them as sub-categories, I've attached a document showing the categories I have set and also the import file (although I've blanked the customer name and monetary values). Is there anything that looks obviously wrong?!

Many thanks
