When entering a new transaction we will always enter a reference number for the transaction so that it can match the reference on the invoice, credit card bill or whatever. My problem is that all too often I find that the limit of 11 characters for credit card transactions is too short. When entering a regular bill or a general journal entry the field size is a full 20 characters.
Can somebody from Intuit ask the developers to increase the field size for credit cards to match this, please? Is there a workaround?
Thanks.
Angus
Hello Angusks572,
Welcome to the Community page,
There is no way to change the amount. You can leave feedback under the Help tab which goes directly to the developer system. You can always use the Memo field if you want to enter the full reference then you can put it in that section.
Thanks for the reply, and for confirming what I thought would be the case. I have left feedback several times before now, but since these product requests are dealt with on a priority basis I guess not many other people see it as a problem. It's just really annoying because a minor change to the definition of that particular field within the database and the data validation on the form would solve it instantly (once it was compiled and rolled out as an update, of course).
I already use the Memo field as an alternative, but it isn't very good as a solution when it comes to searching for transaction references.
Thanks anyway,
Angus
I also agree that the Length of field for for credit card transaction reference number is too short. I wanted to leave this feedback. I have seen where others have this problem and I hope that this will be updated at some point in the future. We do most of our purchasing via credit cards and I can never enter the full order numbers or reference numbers in these transactions. This makes searching for past orders a nightmare.
Hello DBRA NC, thanks for posting on this thread, we appreciate your feedback about the length of field being to short for credit cards, we will pass this onto the developer team.
