Hi
I am trying to confirm there is a bug which is preventing a user (who is using the QBO IOS/iPhone app) from allocating “locations” to invoices.
The user has been granted rights to access “Customers and Sales”, so he can create invoices whilst at a customers premises.
When using his login credentials to access QBO via a Web Browser, he can correctly select a Location (and Class) to apply against an invoice.
It doesn’t work, for this user, when trying to do the same thing via the iPhone app.
Both “Location” and Class” appear as options in the iPhone app that he can click / select.
When you click on Location, it takes you to the location screen, but it is empty asking “want to track transactions by location?” with a message saying “Click + to add a location”. If you click + , add a test location and click save, it says “sorry you do not have permission to access this information. Ask your Quickbooks Online admin to fix your permissions and then try signing in again”.
Giving access to “customers and sales” clearly grants the user access to be able to select locations and classes as he can select it when accessing QBO via the web browser.
I presume, therefore, that there is a bug in the IOS/iPhone app, which is preventing this user from applying locations to invoices, because the IOS app is following incorrect permissions.
The iPhone app allows users who have full rights to QBO to apply both Locations and Classes to invoices.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
James
Solved! Go to Solution.
A quick update to say this issue is now fixed.
It took over a year, but the IOS app now allows restricted users (ie a user whose access is restricted to customers and sales) to add class and locations to invoices.
It always worked on the web app, but it now works on IOS / iPhone too.
Hello, JamesRead.
Thanks for letting us know about the issue in the mobile app.
The rights from the mobile app should be the same as in the computer web browser. I was able to replicate what you did and encountered the same issue.
I've notified this to our engineers on your behalf. Although, it would be best if the report came from you. You can contact our support to report a bug regarding the user rights in the mobile app.
Our support's contact details can be found here: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1191876.
If you have other questions, please let me know.
HELP Please.
I filed a report ([removed]) on the 18th April.
I received an email update on 3rd May saying:
Thank you for requesting updates on Mobile app not allowing custom users to add classes or locations to invoices. We’ve identified additional steps for you to try. We’re continuing to work on solving for this unexpected behavior and our next update is currently scheduled for Tue May 15 01:00:00 GMT 2018.
In order for you to make sure you can complete your work; we would advise you to follow these steps:
Access your QuickBooks Online company via a supported web browser until we've resolved the issue.
On the 11th June, I received an update saying the issue had been fixed.
Good news, the investigation Mobile app not allowing custom users to add classes or locations to sales receipts has been resolved for QuickBooks Online. If you are still experiencing this unexpected behavior, we would ask you to reach out to your online support team for further assistance.
I logged in as a custom user, and tried to allocate a location/class to an invoice, but the IOS app still wouldn't let me.
I got back in touch with Quickbooks on the 11th June and a new case was opened ([removed]). This time, I provided videos and screenshots of what was going on. I received a call back. The issue was acknowledged and I was told it was being passed to a senior engineer. I also granted access to our accounts to Quickbooks support.
Having heard nothing since, I followed up again today. 7th August, to ask for an update.
The person I spoke with said 'I can see the case had been closed. Let me see what is says'.
He explained 'They have updated the case to say that this is expected behaviour'. I am sorry, but this means if you want it changed 'you will have to file a feedback report and hope enough people ask for it to change'.
Any help/suggestions, much appreciated. I didn't mind waiting for a fix, but to wait almost 4 months and then (only after asking for an update) to be told 'it's working as expected' has left me speechless!
Thanks
James
Hi all
is AshH still around? https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/177927
He sent me a PM to my last post saying he was going to try and find out what’s going on, but he seems to have stopped posting in September.
We have several new starters arriving in January / February next year and they will all be restricted users (rather than Admins) who would have to use the work around (use web app on an iPhone) to set the location / class for each invoice. It would be really helpful to get this fixed as it’s been ongoing since April this year!
Thanks
James
Hello James,
Sorry you have not received any updates with regards to your question. I am not able to access any private messages which would have been sent can I please confirm what information you had sent to AshH? I will be more than happy to look into this for you. :)
Please do not post any E-mail address' if this is what was sent we are unable to see these due to content blocks on Community. If you have any account specific information you need to sent to us I would suggest doing this via social media either Facebook or Twitter.
Thanks,
Thanks Edward. Just sent you a PM.
Hi James,
Do you know what details he was looking into? I have checked our app emulator and as a master admin I have been able to add location to invoices through the app. Do you have an open case for this?
Thanks,
Hi Edward
Sorry for the delay replying.
AshH would have been looking into why “restricted users couldn’t add locations or classes to an invoice”.
My first case ([removed]) was opened in April. I received updates for a while, then I was asked in May if it could be closed (but I would still receive an update when it was fixed).
In June I received an updated saying it was fixed. I tested it, but still couldn’t add location / class as a restricted user.
A new case was opened on [removed]. I didn’t receive any updates, so after a while I called support to be told “it’s working as expected” and the case has been closed.
It was at this point I posted in the forum and AshH sent me the PM.
I have another “location / class” related case ([removed]) where “the setting for class appears I set in the drop down menu” which is happening when the invoice is emailed (for all users). This case was created in August. I am being kept informed that it is being worked on, but I don’t know when it’s expected to be completed.
Many thanks
James
Hello James,
I am not able to see your Case number, could you please private message us on Facebook or Twitter to QuickBooks UK please. This way I will be able to see any information you send as the Community blocks out these details.
Thanks,
