Thanks for visiting the Community today, Zimeone.

Let me share some insights into how each action button works when sending invoices in QBSE.

The Export as PDF function allows you to save a copy of the invoice. Then, convert it to another format. At the same time, the Send option lets you deliver the entry via email.

When sending an invoice with a PDF attachment, I still suggest logging in to your QBSE account using a browser. This way, you’ll be able to attach a document.

Here’s an article that provides an overview of the task you can when using the Invoice feature: Create invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Feel free to visit the Community again if you need help with QBSE. I’ll be around to assist further. Have a good one.

I'm sorry but this does not address my issue at all. I wish to send my invoice AS a pdf only not to attach a separate pdf to it. My issue is that when the invoice email is received the recipient has to click through about 4 links that follow through web browsers and some rather alarmingly worded and frankly inappropriate pages stating rather crassly in bold the total of the invoice and to contact 'my full name' if they can't pay it. What I would very much like is to be able to do is customise this down to just a 'hard' copy attachment (my invoice as a pdf) and a nicely worded note to thank them for the work. I really feel that this should be a base level option for Quickbooks but if anyone out there knows how to achieve this I would be most grateful. Thank you for your time.

Thanks for getting back to us Zimeone, unfortunately, it's not possible to edit the email invoice format or send this as a PDF-only, you'd need to download the PDF and send this via your own email provider to the customer. We agree this would be handy and we're always looking for ways to develop our products and we'll pass on an enhancement request for this, if there's anything else you'd like to see please get back to us below. Thanks again! 🙇‍:female_sign:

Hi Quickbooks team,

this issue was raised in 2021. I guess it is still the same: not being able to send an invoice as pdf or directly attached as pdf. It's a nobrainer really.

Hey there, @Walt V

Thanks for joining the thread and sharing your thoughts about developing the product.

For now, the option to send an invoice as a pdf is unavailable in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

I can see how this feature would benefit your business, especially when handling transactions. Thus, I'll take note of this as a suggestion to help improve your experience in QuickBooks.

On the other hand, you can personally send feedback to our product developers. That way, they can review your request and most likely include it in future updates. Here's how:

  1. Click the Assistant icon and type feedback on the search bar.
  2. Select Add a feature, then enter your suggestions.
  3. Choose Yes.

In the meantime, I'd suggest visiting our Community Help website. This website shares helpful articles to read on different topics about QuickBooks. Just select a subject from the Topics drop-down menu.

Thanks for coming to the Community. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Any chance this feature is coming.  I know wave has it and my clients are complaining a lot about the links.

I appreciate you asking for updates about sending invoices with PDF attached in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), Js120. Let me share some insights about this feature.

Being able to send invoices from QBSE with PDF is not an option now. I understand how important this feature is for your business so your clients can see the PDF file instead of the series of links or messages. Rest assured our developer team is working nonstop to enhance the product and deliver the best experiences for all QuickBooks users. At this time, you can proactively send a feature request directly to our product developers. This way, they can evaluate the possibility of incorporating this in future updates.

To start:

  1. Click the Assistant icon and type feedback on the search bar.
  2. Select Add a feature, then enter your suggestions.
  3. Choose Yes.

On the other hand, I'm adding this article for tips while tracking and sending invoices from QBSE: Create invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Aside from invoices, you can record your income and expenses through the Transactions menu. Or, import them using an Excel CSV file.

If there's anything else you need help with while working with your invoices, let me know by leaving a comment below. I'm just a few clicks away to help you again. Have a good one!
