One invoice with two subcustomers

I have created one Parent customer with 2 Sub-Customers. Each of the sub-customers is set to Bill with Parent.

Billable time has been logged against both sub-customers.

When I create an invoice for the parent customer, the time for both sub-customers is displayed.

If I group by service and then add to the invoice, I only get one line on the invoice with the sum of both sub-customers. And the invoice prints a subtotal with sub-customer name only for the first sub-customer.

Is it not possible to get one invoice, with two or more sub-customers, and subtotals for each sub-customer on the invoice?

One invoice with two subcustomers

Thanks for checking in with us, ykhwaja.

The option to get one invoice, with two or more sub-customers and subtotals for each sub-customer is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We can only show the time for both sub-customers when creating an invoice for the parent customer. Then, we get one line on the invoice with the sum of both sub-customers when grouping by service and adding to the invoice. Once we print it, it will show a subtotal with the sub-customer name only for the first sub-customer.

If you need to generate an invoice by due date report, just follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Reports from the left menu.
  2. In the Go to Report field, enter Transaction Detail By Account.
  3. Choose the Transaction Detail By Account report.
  4. Select Customise.
  5. Choose the date range.
  6. Tap Filter to open up the filters.
  7. Set the Transaction Type filter to Invoice.
  8. Set the A/R Paid filter to Unpaid.

One invoice with two subcustomers

If QB online does not allow the creation of an invoice with more than one sub-customer, what is the other option? Is there any other way to create an invoice for multiple sub-customers with subtotals?

I am currently evaluating QB Online and if I cannot invoice my customers correctly, it will be impossible to use the software.

Would creating the sub-customers as projects make any difference?

Hi ykhwaja, it's only possible to assign one customer/sub-customer/project to an invoice, the only workaround available would be to record the transaction using a journal entry, separating the customer/sub-customer (under 'name') over separate lines against the debtors account, however, you would not then have an invoice to issue to the customer and would need to create this outside of QBO.

One invoice with two subcustomers

Hello,

2 years may well be too late to answer this but if you select the option "Don't group time" and add them all separately, then it groups the services automatically for each sub-customer if you have the same description.

If you don't have the same description, then it will show the lines separately, even if they are the same service.
