Unlike Sage, QB, I believe, does NOT alert you if you make a mistake and post an invoice/bill etc etc with a date outside of the tax year you are in. This really is a vital alert that I feel QB should prompt the user with. Has anyone else encountered this problem and made QB aware of this really important change that needs to be made to their programme?
Good day, christine.
I understand the importance of being able to alert customers if they make a mistake and post an invoice or bill with a date outside of the tax year they are in, and I appreciate your feedback on this matter. I will certainly make a note of your suggestion to improve your experience with the program.
Additionally, you have the option to directly send your feedback to our developers, who can review your request and potentially include it in future updates. Here's how you can do that:
You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
If you have any further questions about alerts in QuickBooks or if there's anything else I can assist you with, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm always here to help. Have a great day!
Hi @ReymondO already done but thank you for reminding me. I am sure your suggestions team are fed up of my name, I am frequently putting on suggestions that I and others I know need. Albeit though they are not applied as most are more than 8 moths old and I know that I am not the only one making suggestions. Instead changes are made that really are not necessary. I await my turn! One day hopefully I will see the changes!

Now that is funny ;)
Comedy Gold!
I haven't tested it @christine-bulbec , but does Close the Books have any effect?

I suspect this will simply prevent changes to existing transactions than warn about new ones being entered in the wrong place.
It's something that was always a problem feature in QB Desktop so I tend to keep a close eye on the dates - particularly when entering payments at the same time (QB has an annoying habit of using the last date entered regardless of transaction).
This is funny! But so true. However, I did make one recommendation for more writing space on the customers home page ledgers and that was sorted out last year. We just need it now on the suppliers ledgers!
Oooh I absolutely agree about the annoying habit of using the last date! I have made mistake there too but that can be easily picked up when doing the bank recs as they will be out.
I will look at that suggestion ref "close the books" suggestion, thanks for that. It was our Auditor who noticed that I had put in a 2022 date (outside of our financial period) instead of 2023 when a journal was posted! Little embarrassing but she understood.
