In QBO UK Plus I have noticed that if a user (who has limited access e.g. not having access to Templates or Forms) cannot choose the desired template to generate an invoice. Normally a user such as Admin would have access to select the template on the invoice window when generating an invoice.
A user should be able to choose an invoice template inorder to print the invoice.
How prevalent is this issue? How do you get round it?
I appreciate your time and effort in bringing this matter to our attention, @HAM9. I’m here to provide information about user roles and help improve your experience.
The ability to choose an invoice template is typically controlled by the user's access level and permissions set by the admin. If they don't have access to Templates or Forms, they won't be able to select a template. You may need to modify their role or create a custom one that includes the necessary permissions.
I recognize how convenient the option is for users who have limited access. Our Product Development team is constantly looking for ways to enhance our offerings to meet your expectations. That being said, I recommend submitting your idea to them so they can carefully review your feedback and get it possibly added to future upgrades.
Here’s how you do it:

@MadelynC since you mention that giving necessary permission is necessary in order to enable user to choose invoice template to print an invoice, kindly let me know where to go to give the user access to Templates or Forms as you indicate. Don't give vague answers such as grant "necessary permissions".
Hello HAM9, so if the user is down as just a standard user they cannot customise invoice templates as you can see on this article under roles that count towards user limits then select standard user and then it says in the notes section. If you are needing the user to be abler to do this you could need to make them a company admin user instead.
@Ashleigh1 and @MadelynC
What I would like to see is the user to be able to choose template for printing an invoice. It is you who advised that the user should be given access to Templates/Forms in QBO (to be able to have the ability to select templates for generating an invoice), to which I replied and asked how to do that. I cannot give user Admin permission as advised by you. That's not an answer. For any tiny bit or as simple as the ability to choose templates on invoice window should not require the user to be an Admin. Give me proper answer.
Hello HAM9, I have already told you, in previous post it is not possible for a standard user to do this only primary/company admin can access the custom form styles which are linked to the template options on the invoices to select. So if you wish for your user to be able to do this unfortunately it means you need to make them a company admin there is no other way. We would advise you leave this as feedback within the main cog wheel.
