This happens on almost all of the transactions that import from my bank account. I've attached a screenshot to show an example.
Hi Hels Bells, thanks for posting on the Community
Transactions transmitted through Open Banking are sent to QuickBooks through a one-way transfer of data. This means we're unable to overwrite how the bank sends over transactional information. For further assistance, we recommend contacting your bank directly.
Sorry perhaps my question wasn't clear. I don't want the bank description to change, I would like to know why the QB transaction field doesn't replicate the bank description? Please see the screenshot on my original post for an example.
Hello Hels Bells, thanks for coming back to us, so it should populate whatever the description is on the bank side it should be exactly the same on QuickBooks side, however, if they are not the same you can edit it on the box so it is.
If it should be the same, then there is an error that needs fixing please, not really for me to correct IMO. It makes it impossible to easily identify my clients paying which invoices as it doesn't show the invoice number they put on a reference.
Can we revisit this please as the issue continues?
There are lots of instances on my transactions in QB where the bank description doesn't match what is included in the transaction field.
If the bank is providing the bank description, in the screenshot example, "Be At One Norwich" then why is only "Be One" included as the transaction description?
I get lots of this on different transactions and I can see no pattern, such as length of description. This presents me with an issue with rules, and identifying transactions.
Surely I am not the only one who encounters this?
Hello Hels Bells, thanks for reaching back out to us here about this issue again, we are sorry to hear you are still having an issue in regards to the transaction description that is sent from the bank to QuickBooks. Could you please go to transactions> banking> click the little cog wheel right-hand side next to the export and printer icon. Can you check that you have got these ticked as it is coming from the bank.
If you still have any problems, please reach back out to us again.
