Can anyone help as to why my quick books won’t recognise my county when trying to set up a tax code

Glad to have you here on the Community page, @j-zysemil.

Setting up tax code in QuickBooks Online (QBO) UK doesn't require any address or country. Therefore, you should be able to set up the tax code seamlessly.

For your guide about adding tax code in QBO, you can follow these steps:

  1. Click on Taxes at the left pane, then select VAT.
  2. Tap on Add tax so you'll be able to add tax rate, group rate, or custom tax depending on the type of tax you want to add.d6 1.PNGd6 3.PNG
    • Tax rate: add another tax rate for VAT, such as a local tax that is not already included.
    • Group rate: combine multiple taxes and make applying them to your transactions easier. All taxes you include are calculated and charged at once, but we track them separately for you.
    • Custom tax: add a tax agency and a tax percentage, such as an environmental levy, hotel, or petrol tax.
  3. After filling out the necessary information, hit the Save button to record it.
