Late VAT Return

Hi.
I’ve just joined quick books and need to send some late VAT returns dating back to Nov 19. But I can’t seem to change the date on the VAT returns to manually send them with MTD.
How do I do this?
Thanks!

Late VAT Return

Hello Russ27,

Welcome to the Community page,

If you haven't filed anything yet in Quickbooks, you can do the following:

  1. Toggle MTD off in the edit VAT settings and save.
  2. Click prepare return
  3. Set the start and end date of the return as day before the start date.
  4. Mark that period as file.
  5. Toggle MTD back on.

Late VAT Return

Hi Ashleigh,

So just to confirm, if the start date was 1st Feb 2022 then I would need to put 31st Jan 2022 as the start and end date?
Many thanks

Thank you for following up, Russ27.

Yes, as mentioned by my colleague above, you have to put both start and end date as the day before the start date.
