How do I deregister for VAT in Quickbooks?

I appreciate you bringing this matter to the Community, @Lehva. You can disable VAT in QuickBooks, which will stop VAT calculations on your sales and purchases, remove your VAT registration number from your account, and deactivate VAT return preparation and submission features.

To get started, first set the default tax selection to No VAT by following these steps:

  1. Go to the gear icon, then Account and Settings.
  2. Select Advanced  and hit the pencil icon next to Accounting.
  3. Change the Default tax selection to No VAT.
  4. Click Save, then Done.

Next, you’ll need to disable Making Tax Digital (MTD). Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to the gear icon and tick Account and Settings.
  2. Choose the Advanced tab again.
  3. Press the pencil icon next to Making Tax Digital.
  4. Tap Learn how to Disconnect and follow the instructions provided.

For more detailed information on fully turning off VAT in QuickBooks, you can check out this helpful article: Turn off VAT in QuickBooks.

Once you have completed the process of turning off VAT and disabling Making Tax Digital by following the steps I shared, please don’t hesitate to provide an update on your progress. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance at any point, feel free to reach out. We’re always here and happy to help you anytime. Take care!
