I have two Government Gateway IDs: one for VAT, one for everything else. Is it possible to link two to my Quickbooks account?

Hi Ben,

Thanks for joining us here on the Community.

The VAT gateway credentials are entered within the VAT settings on the Taxes page, and the payroll gateway credentials are entered within the payroll settings so there can be two gateways linked :)

Thanks, Georgia.

The settings to change Gateway credentials are not jumping out at me I'm afraid...

Taxes > VAT > Edit Settings doesn't seem to have the option in there.

Payroll settings are alluding me entirely.

Can you help me out please? :)

Thanks for coming back, ben68.

Once you have enabled the MTD in QuickBooks Online, you'll get the option to enter the Government Gateway ID's for VAT.

One way enable this is by going to Taxes on the left navigation and select Let's go. If you have dismissed this option, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the Gear icon, then Account and Settings.
  2. In the Accounts and Settings page, select Advanced on the left menu.
  3. Then, select the Making Tax Digital header to expand the section. Click on Learn how to connect.
  4. On the Get started with digital tax page, click on Let's go.

Once done, you proceed to authorising QuickBooks to interact with HRMC. For instructions on how to do this, check out this article. (Step 2): Authorise QuickBooks to interact with HMRC - MTD for small businesses.

I know that you're already familiar with the steps on how to enter the Gateway credentials in payroll settings. But let me share this in case you need it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Account and settings.
  2. Click the Payroll tab.
  3. From the Online filing with HMRC, click the edit icon to enter your gateway credentials.
  4. Fill in your Gateway user ID, Gateway password and other necessary information.
  5. Click Save, then Done.

For additional information about entering gateway credentials in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can proceed to HMRC credentials: Turn on RTI reporting to HMRC in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.

Get back to me if you have further questions. It would be my pleasure to continue the help. Keep safe and have a great day ahead!
