Hello, granby.

 

If you’re filing the return from January to march, you can use the old way of filing. You can then use the new way moving forward. 
Here’s how to file the old way:

  1. In QuickBooks, Go to File VAT. 
  2. Select File VAT instead of File VAT MTD. 
  3. By pass the HMRC warning and click Continue. 

Though, if you’re still unable to file the return, I’d recommend reaching out to our support team through these steps:

  1. Click Help at the top. 
  2. Select Support. 
  3. Go to Additional Resources and click Contact Us. 
  4. Select QuickBooks Desktop. 
  5. Choose any topics 
  6. Scroll down and click Get Phone Number.

We found that removing GB from the front of our VAT number solved the problem, even though it had worked OK under the old filing method

Hello Woburn

 

We have found the GB prefix can cause this is issue.Let us know when you have tried removing that prefix if it allows you to file

As stated in our previous post, removing the GB prefix from our VAT number DID solve the problem.

 

A lot of users are going to have this problem because the old online VAT filing worked fine with the GB prefix in place. It's a shame that Intuit did not test this before the update was released.

I have not prefixed the number with GB but it still will not work

I don't have the option of Additional support

I subscribed to this version of QB at the beginning of the year and first VAT filing was no problem

QB updated recently and this VAT filing does not work and it is urgent to file as I have only a couple of days left

  1. Choose QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select Employees & Payroll and choose Payroll Liabilities.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and select either Get Phone Number or Start a Message.
