I understand how precious time is for you. I also appreciate the effort trying to get the issue resolved.
These are some of the potential causes of the error message: client_or_agent_not_authorised:
- Every 18 months you are required by HMRC to re-establish your connection with them in QuickBooks. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your account to fix this.
- Use the correct Gateway Gateway user ID and password specifically for MTD provided to your by HMRC–this should be sent to you via email.
- Make sure you turn on MTD for VAT in QuickBooks and connect to HMRC.
- Utilize the correct VAT registration number (VRN) in QuickBooks. If you've been issued a new VRN, you'll need to update this in QuickBooks, here's how to edit VAT settings.
When you're ready, you'll need to disconnect and reconnect your account. It only takes a few clicks to accomplish them.
Here’s how to disconnect your account:
- Click the Gear icon and select Account and settings.
- In Advanced, select Making Tax Digital.
- Hit Learn how to disconnect and follow the steps.
Once done, reconnect your account using the correct login credentials. For detailed instructions, proceed to Step 2 in this article: How to reauthorise QuickBooks Online for MTD.
