Thank you, Emma. I had to look up using a private browsing window...and did it through Firefox. No green wheel here and I am able to use the VAT screen. So the issue was with Safari. Not sure why. But many thanks.
(I have only just started using Quickbooks and making tax digital so this is all very new. I wiill likely operate filing for VAT via an accountant). Seems like Firefox and a private browsing window will be the way forward.
Hi mattcameronharve Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Community. At what stage are you experiencing the issue is it when you select the taxes option from within the product?
Yes. The income tax screen works fine. But the VAT screen is 'cloudy' i.e. unable to click on anywhere with the spinning green wheel overlaid. It has been like that since around 4PM yesterday as I was settting up. I imagine it is an issue with the connection to HMRC.
Top left hand corner of the screen on the logo ;VAT Making Tax Digital - there is a green tick and 'enabled' and the VAT has been calculated on purchases ...so it's working in part.
Hi mattcameronharve Are you using a computer to access your account/the taxes section? If you are what type of device and browser are you using?
i'm using safari on a mac.
...but i don't think it's a browser issue as i can access other functions on quickbooks fine.
...my suspicion is this is an issue with HMRC authorisation somehow
Hello Matt, Thanks for the confirmation. Is it the same on a private browsing window? Are you the one filing the VAT for MTD or is it done through your accountant? We've checked and we have no reports of HMRC being down at all for submissions if you are at that stage.

Hello Matt, Thanks for your reply. Glad you're not able to use the VAT screen. It may be that your Safari just needs a clear of the cache and cookies . Any further queries at all feel free to ask them in the Community!
I really appreciate your help there - I have cleared the history and I can now also access via Safari as well.
