Why do you put, 'Now record your VAT refund' before HMRC has had a chance to make the refund?

Surely, if I click the green button (see screen grab) to 'Record Refund' the moment I have sent my VAT Return to HMRC as I'm being advised to do, I won't be able to record the refund since the refund will take some days to be paid by HMRC?

Hi Eden-ho Thanks for reaching out to us. The record refund option is designed in this manner as the system has no way of knowing when HMRC will refund you and therefore gives you the opportunity to record the refund at your earliest convenience. I will certainly submit your feedback to our developers and hopefully in the future they maybe able to implement a system where the record refund option is only activated after a certain period of time after the return has been filed or when the amount of the refund appears in a linked bank account. I would also recommend that you leave feedback from within your account by selecting the cog/gear icon from the main page > Feedback..
