Needless, I accept. Then low and behold an error. No error code, just a pop up. And yes, Payroll is disabled. Wonderful. Anyone managed to resolve an issue like this?

I'd recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. One of our support specialists can verify your account in a private environment wherein we're unable to do here in the Community space as this is a public forum. They can determine the reason why you're having that prompt.

I talked to a human. Unfortunately the response was dire.
You (Quickbooks) have an issue that is causing this to happen and the engineers are 'working on it'. I will get an email when (if) it is resolved. But until then, payruns are not possible.
This is no way to run a business. How does QB expect anyone to do the wages when the payrun won't work.
