Client Code

I recently started using Quickbook.

Previously, I have been using excel and I assign each client with a Client Code. Example AT89780.

I would like to import these codes into Quickbook. But in the templates, there isn't any option to add it. Is there any way to do that via the import?

Also, I would like to add "Tag", e.g. "Important client" and I would like to add "referral", how do I do that?

Client Code

Hi WK Tax, welcome to the Community - the tags in QuickBooks are for transactions only meaning they can't be assigned to customers/clients. It's also not possible to add a custom field to the import file, however the codes could be added to the 'notes and attachments' section after importing. If you have any feedback you'd like to share for this, please submit by navigating to the Cog > Feedback in your account. You can also get back to us below with any further Q's. :)

What if one assigns the Identification code as Name of client then on Surname one enters both Name and Surname of client then import client detail for tracing

Great to have you join the discussion, LingTaxField.

You can apply the workaround you proposed to bring in the identification code by entering it in the Name field of the client and using the Surname as the full name of your client. This is a useful alternative as the option to directly import the code is currently unavailable. We appreciate you sharing this workaround; it will certainly benefit other users facing similar challenges.

Furthermore, I recommend sending your feedback to our Product Developer team so they can evaluate the possibility of importing client codes in the future.

If you need to import Items, Chart of Accounts, Bank transactions, or recreate links from another company file, you can refer to these articles for guidance:
