Moving client from accountant to individual online account

Hi

we are currently subscribed under an accountant's online account. Is it possible to move our company bookkeeping data to an individual company's online account? I note that the price will differ, at £22 per month.

Thanks

Moving client from accountant to individual online account

Hello Minlee2001,

Welcome to the Community page,

If you are referring to wanting to move the data from QBOA to a QBO account, e.g. data can't be moved from the 'My Books' section of QBOA to QBO, only clients that are set up with an individual QBO file can be released.

Or

Are you referring to wanting to move one of your client's off your whole sale billing so that that client can then pay for the account directly? If so these are the steps you need to take.

Remove a client from your ProAdvisor discount plan

When you remove a customer from your plan, they'll start paying for their subscription themselves. Their subscription won't be the same rate you paid since you got a ProAdvisor discount. Removing clients doesn't impact their accounting data in any way.

  1. If you haven't already, make your client the primary admin of their company file.
  2. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings ⚙ and then Billing and subscriptions.
  3. Select the Your subscriptions tab.
  4. Select the client you want to remove.
Note: If the client is currently inactive, make them active first.
  5. From the Select actions▼dropdown, select Transfer billing to client.

After you remove a client, they have read-only access to their QuickBooks company until they update their billing info. They can see their accounting data, but can't make changes.

Moving client from accountant to individual online account

Hi

Thank you for your reply.

If I remove the client from the QBOA, and for them start to pay directly.  Does this mean the current data will be available as QBO only, and the client will have the complete access right?

Many thanks

Moving client from accountant to individual online account

Hi minlee2001, thanks for getting back to us - once the client is made primary admin of the account, they'll have full access rights & billing permissions (n.b. it's important that the steps above are followed in order, so that the client is made primary admin before billing permissions are transferred). The account will become a standalone QBO account, and all data will be available as before in a read-only format until billing information is entered. They can update billing info easily in their account by navigating to the Cog > Account & settings > Billing & subscriptions. :)
