Why has Passkey login stopped working? Account->Sign In & Security-> settings confirm the Passkey is setup and valid, but only password login offered for last week.

Hi, Danielm.

If QuickBooks Online is still offering a password, it's likely not set up correctly for your current browser or device.

Let's first confirm if you've registered your passkey in your QBO Sign In & Security settings. If it has been successfully registered, we can proceed with some basic troubleshooting steps.

Let's clear your browser's cache and cookies and ensure you're using a supported web browser for a smooth compatibility experience. Web browsers store temporary files (cache and cookies) to speed up loading times. Over time, these can become outdated or corrupted, interfering with website functions like passkey logins.

Once you've cleared the cache and cookies, restart your browser. Then, try logging in with your passkey again.

If the issue remains, I suggest contacting our Live Support team directly. They can find the root cause of the passkey issues and provide the next steps.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns about QuickBooks.

Thanks for the tip JeraldR.

Passkeys worked fine from 04 March 2025 until 22 July 2025.They are much easier and save the Authenticator challenge.

I deleted the 165 intuit.com cookies (8.3MiB space) and the Passkey login option returned. I've logged out and in a few times and Passkey login continues to work. Browser is Firefox 140.1.0esr. Perhaps there's been a security update/patch that has unsettled things. All good now.

For those trying this at home, go to Firefox three bars (top RHS)->Settings, search "manage cookies", then select "Manage data" (NOT  Clear data), then enter "intuit.com" in the search, click to highlight in the list and press the "Removed Selected" button below, then "Save Changes" and confirm. Beware!! If one hits Clear data then it will nuke all other site cookies lose all of the state for those sites!
