My client has uploaded data from his Barclay's bank but figures have no 'balance' column, only 'sent' and 'received'. How is this resolved please? I don't have access to his bank.
Hello Isobel,
When uploading a WebConnect file, it doesn't include the Balance column. The balance depends on the bank account you set up in QuickBooks. You might want to follow the format in this article when importing bank transactions: Import Bank Transactions from Excel CSV File To QuickBooks Online.
You can follow these steps to enter an opening balance for a bank account:
1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner, and select Chart of Accounts.
2. Look for the bank account, and click the drop-down menu next to Account history.
3. Select Edit, and enter the opening balance.
4. Click Save and Close.
If you're unable to directly enter the bank's opening balance, we enter it as a bank deposit. You can use this article for reference: Enter an Opening Balance for a Bank Account.
Let me know if you need more assistance with this. I'll be around.
Hello James, thank you very much for your reply, I will do that today and see how it goes.
I have another query: same client has uploaded data from his company cards but the Payee column is blank. He has: date, description, payee, category, spent, received. Other odd thing is that all the spending is in the received column so QB wants to allocate them to income accounts.
Sorry if I'm seeming thick, the online version is so different to operate!
Many thanks.
Hello Isobel,
Please let us know how you get on with this.
Would you be able to please send a screenshot of the banking screen containing the bank transactions. Also if the data has been uploaded using a CSV file could I please get a screenshot of this as well.
Thank you,
Nightmare. All the credit cards data from Barclays has all the purchases in the 'Received' column. I added one line to see how it looked in the Cr/card register and it is showing as a payment in rather than a purchase. This was uploaded from the bank by my client.
Hi Isobel,
Would you be able to send us a screenshot of this so we can take a closer look. Has your client uploaded the csv file and if so is it possible that they have put the amounts in the incorrect columns?
Thanks
^KC
Thank you for replying. I will speak to my client and get back to you.
Hi Isobel,
Thank you for your reply we will await your response and go from there.
Thanks
