Our Barclays accounts were previously connected using the passcode and memorable word but having had to change the login details I now no longer have the option to connect in this way. I just get an error saying that I need level 40 access at Barclays! Can anyone advise?

Hi @Flash1981,

The error message that you stated means you'll have to log in using a PINsentry device.

This is implemented by Barclays for security purposes.

I always used to log in using the memorable word and passcode but recently had to go through various security steps following an attempted fraud on our account. Is this likely to be the cause (i.e. increased security with the use of the pin sentry)?

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @Flash1981.

Can you confirm if you're using the QuickBooks Online version or a different product? Any information you can add will help ensure a timely solution.

The changes with how you log in will depend on the security update from your bank. Also, the alteration to the login process may be applied to ensure your account is secure and protected from fraudulent activity.

Thanks for the prompt response, Flash1981.

Manually updating your bank can fix online banking connection concern. By doing so, it will help refresh the connection and sync your bank transactions into the program.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking from the left menu
  2. Choose a bank.
  3. Select Update.
  4. When prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials. Click Continue update.

You can check out this article to learn more about manual update: Manually Update An Account
