Our Barclays accounts were previously connected using the passcode and memorable word but having had to change the login details I now no longer have the option to connect in this way. I just get an error saying that I need level 40 access at Barclays! Can anyone advise?

Hi @Flash1981,

The error message that you stated means you'll have to log in using a PINsentry device.

This is implemented by Barclays for security purposes.

I always used to log in using the memorable word and passcode but recently had to go through various security steps following an attempted fraud on our account. Is this likely to be the cause (i.e. increased security with the use of the pin sentry)?

Thank you. I am using Quickbooks Online.

Thanks for the prompt response, Flash1981.

Manually updating your bank can fix online banking connection concern. By doing so, it will help refresh the connection and sync your bank transactions into the program.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking from the left menu
  2. Choose a bank.
  3. Select Update.
  4. When prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials. Click Continue update.

You can check out this article to learn more about manual update: Manually Update An Account

If you continue getting the same error, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Care Support. They have the tools that can help conduct deeper investigation on what's causing this to come up with a fix.

Here's how you can contact us:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the upper right.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern.
  4. Click Let’s talk.
  5. Choose Get a callback
  6. Type in your contact info.
  7. Select Confirm my call.

Let me know that results of if you have other questions. I want to make sure everything's up an running. Have a good one.
