Cannot sync bank account

Despite having my account synced with my bank for several years I am currently unable to update this. The process always ends with the bank being unable to locate quickbooks

To ensure we're on the same page, can you verify the name of the bank account you're trying to sync? Have you encounter any error messages? Any additional details you can provide would be helpful in resolving the issue.


Normally, QuickBooks may not be able to locate the account you're trying to update due to the following reasons:


  • Your bank or credit card company changed the account or moved it to a new server.
  • You changed the account name or other information on your bank or credit card company's website.
  • Your bank or credit card company issued a new account or credit card.
  • You closed your bank or credit card account.


To address this, you may need to rename one of the accounts if you have multiple accounts with the same name at the bank. However, if you have a new account number or a new card and wish to retain your old account, you'll need to disconnect the account first. Then, connect or link the new account to your chart of accounts.

Cannot sync bank account

Thank you for your response.


The account is with santander and none of the things you mentioned have occured, change of a/c, card, etc

I did delete the account from quickbooks and then reconnected and this solved the problem, however quickbooks is again asking to "Authenticate account".


I go through the process to do this only to be told there has been an unknown error and to try again in a few hours.

Since the issue persists after performing some troubleshooting steps, let's verify if there's a problem with your bank's website. First, obtain the URL QuickBooks employs for connection.


  1. From the Transactions menu, select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select Link account.
  3. Look for your bank and click it.
  4. Copy the URL listed for your bank.
  5. Sign in to your bank website using the copied URL.


Alternatively, you can manually import your bank transactions into QuickBooks.
