Does anyone know why Metro Bank Feeds aren't working again - not mentioned in status?

Metro Bank feeds stopped working on the 24th Oct. Quickbooks says that the bank feeds have changed therefore you are required to disconnect and reconnect. However though you can connect initially, when trying to complete the setup process, it simply loops, asking you to log in once more.

Hi there, Daniel.

When QuickBooks notifies you that the bank feeds have changed and you need to disconnect and reconnect, In situations where your bank has undergone any updates or changes in its program, it may result in a change to its website link. In such cases, you will need to re-establish the connection using the updated link. By doing this, it will allow QuickBooks to establish a new connection with the updated bank feeds.

However, before proceeding with the reconnection process, it is important to ensure that you do not have any pending transactions under the "For Review" tab. If there are any, make sure to categorize or exclude them before disconnecting the current connection. This will prevent the loss of transaction data that has not yet been reviewed or categorized.

Once you have confirmed no pending transactions, you can disconnect the current connection and follow the necessary steps to establish the connection using the updated link.

  1. Go to the Banking tab.
  2. Ensure the bank account in question is highlighted in blue.
  3. Click the Edit (pencil) icon.
  4. Select Edit account info.
  5. On the next window, scroll down and tick the checkbox Disconnect this account in save.
  6. Press Save and Close.

When you reconnect your online bank account to QuickBooks Online (QBO), it's important to note that any previously added or matched bank transactions will remain in the same account. This means that you don't have to worry about losing any past transactions after reconnecting.

However, it's crucial to ensure that you enter the new link for your bank account correctly during the reconnection process. This will ensure that future transactions are accurately recorded in the correct bank account in your QBO company.

Once you have successfully completed the process, I highly recommend reconciling your Metro Bank account every month. Reconciliation is a powerful tool that helps you keep track of your income and expenses, identify possible errors, and maintain accurate financial records. By reconciling your account regularly, you can ensure that all your transactions are correctly recorded and categorized.

To reconcile your Metro Bank account, you should start by reviewing your bank statement and comparing it to your QuickBooks Online records. Make sure that all your transactions are accounted for and that there are no discrepancies or missing items. If you find any errors or discrepancies, you can use QuickBooks Online to correct them and update your records. For the detailed steps, check out this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Please keep me posted on how it goes. Let me know in the comment if you have other banking concerns or questions about managing your transactions in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care and stay safe.

Massively grateful as I am for your considered and helpful reply, I fear it isn't a solution.

The problem is not a new one, it is the same as was encountered in March and we were without Bank Feeds for nearly a month. We are used to disconnections and reconnections and are successful in other bank accounts. It does seem though that Metro Bank changed the accounts, as they have adopted c-o-p as well during an update. I think it is as simple as Quickbooks using a broken link to reconnect.

Thanks too for the reconciliation info. We do, as a matter of course, reconcile all bank accounts monthly as we are obliged to under the RICS code.

I do hope this is sorted soon - 17 clients we book keep with lots of daily transactions. It becomes an arduous task and takes the precious time we usually spend on other aspects of out work.
