Downloading a payment file to upload with bank

I spend a great deal of time manually loading payments into my bank (Nat West).  There must be a way of automating this by downloading from QB and uploading to the bank.  I am new to QB, but a colleague told me we used to use an app called 'Comma'.  Can anyone recommend something that could help.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Alison108, thanks for joining the Community

We don't have any specific recommendations for apps, but you can check out the full range of supported apps over on our app store (check that the flag is set to the Union Jack).

Please note, as apps are third-party, there may be additional fees associated and the support is provided by the app developer.

Thanks for reaching Intuit support today. We'll be around if you have any additional queries.

Thank you.  That is useful.  I have looked at some of these apps and they all seem to focus on loading information INTO Quickbooks, rather than exporting data.  None that I can see specify this exact use.

Would be interested if any other users have solved this problem.

It's a pleasure to assist you with connecting your bank account to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @Khanafsar55991.

There are two ways to set up your bank account, you can connect using Direct Connect or Web Connect, depending on what's available at your bank.

For Direct Connect, you'll need the PIN or password from your bank to use this method. After connecting, the electronic statement will download to your bank feeds and automatically create an account.

Here's how:

  1. From Banking, go to Bank Feeds.
  2. Select Set up Bank Feeds for an account.
  3. In the Enter your Bank's name field, enter, and select your bank.

If you're enrolling for the first time, click the Enrollment Site link and consider applying for Direct Connect. Contact your bank for application approval and inquire if special sign-in credentials are required.

Follow these steps after enrollment:

  1. Select Continue and enter your Online Banking user ID and Password.
  2. Click Connect to connect your QuickBooks to your bank's server.
  3. Choose the bank account you want to connect to your account in QuickBooks.
  4. Hit Finish after the connection finishes.

To upload you bank transactions from 2009-2024, you may use the Web-Connect and download your file using (.QBO) and import that file to QuickBooks to add those transactions to your account.

If your bank offers Web Connect, follow these steps:

  1. From Banking, select Bank Feeds, then Import Web Connect Files.

  2. Choose the .QBO file you saved, then tick Open.
  3. Select your bank account.
  4. Click Continue. You'll see a dialog box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Select OK.
  5. Go to the Bank Feeds Centre to review your transactions.

For additional resources about the banking feature in QuickBooks Desktop, you can check out the topics from this link: Find help with bank feeds and reconciling accounts.

Our Community Team is here to help with any questions about QBDT, including downloading bank transactions. Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance.
