Glad to see you here, @BrianPaul.
I'd be happy to help you with what to do after exporting the bank transactions from your bank into an Excel file.
Since QuickBooks accept .CSV (Comma-separated values) for bank transactions, you may convert your excel file. Before that, you may consider checking this format:
Once done applying the format in the Excel spreadsheet, select the File menu. I'll show you the steps below:
That's it! You can now import your bank transactions to QuickBooks Online. To know more about the process, check out this article: Import bank transactions from .CSV to QuickBooks.
I've added this article for your future task when you're ready to track your bank transactions: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online. This contains steps on how you can link your QuickBooks transactions to your bank, then proceed to the reconciliation process.

I am trying to download my bank statements from my bank and the format is either qif files or a file not accepted by qbo. Any idea how to convert qif files to a format qbo will accept.
Hey there, Rickerby3.
You can try to save the .qif file, rename it to .qbo, and import. If you're not able to do it, you can find converters on the web.
Once done converting, here's how to import the file:
You can also import bank transactions using CSV file.
Let us know if you need more help. We'll check your post from time to time.
Hey VinceJ,
We don't have a specific converter that we can recommend, if you use a search engine to look for free online file converters a number of options will come up :) Thanks.
Hey VinceJ,
That's understandable - are you able to open the downloaded file from Santander and copy all data into an Excel file?
This is an absolutely incorrect and nonsense advice. With all due respect, you need to go and get your knowledge checked out, so you would not waste people's time.
The file can be downloaded as an Excel file. What do we do with it once we have it in Excel? Thank you!

There are no free ones. the software costs in the region of £60. QB should have this resolved by now as it is clearly as issue. xero, tradify and sage all allow QIF files as most banks support this file type. is this something that will be added soon? as i am missing part of my transactions and the only way around it seems to be to move company

Hello:
I am not sure which version of QuickBooks you have. If you have the Enterprise or the Accountant Versions, you could download the missing transactions from your bank in CSV format and import them into your QB file.
We do offer services as such to our clients in the United States. We can do the same for you as well.
The best of luck to you.
