Natwest Bank Feed has switched from showing my balance to showing my available balance.

Last week, my Natwest Bank feed stopped sending my usual balance which included an overdraft with a minus figure which reconciled perfectly with my QBO. To now showing my available balance which is a plus figure. This has created quite an imbalance with the bank feed Vs my reconciled transactions and balances in QBO. How and why did this change suddenly happen? How can I fix it? I dont want Natwest to send my available balance on the back feed, I need it to show my actual balance so I can reconcile with QBO. I have already tried disconnecting the account and reconnecting a number of times. No change.

Hello Underground Media,

Welcome to the Community page,

Having looked into this, there is no way of changing this in QuickBooks this is what the bank is sending to us. If you are wanting it changed, you will need to speak to your bank Natwest and get them to change it for you on their end.  Once changed on their end it will then change on the why it posts it into Quickbooks.

Hi, I am having the same problem with my NatWest / Clearspend Business Credit Card. I have just spoken with the Clearspend Helpline and they assure me the problem is at the QuickBooks end, not theirs. Apparently QuickBooks is misinterpreting the information they are sending. Please can someone look into this and sort it one way or the other? Many thanks. I will contact QuickBooks support also.

Natwest Bank Feed has switched from showing my balance to showing my available balance.

I am also having this issue with my Nat West Personal credit card I have just added it to quickbooks for the first time and it displays the available credit not the outstanding balance.

Any news about who's end the problem is at ?

Hello there, Bubbleboy,

I've got the steps to get the outstanding balance of Natwest on your Banking page.

The connection may be stuck and you'll want to manually download your transaction. To do so, simply click the Update button.

Feel free to keep working. You’ll get a notification when it’s finished. Check your bank feed again for the missing transaction and categorise it into the correct account.

If the same issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Banking Team. They can check and verify the connection between Natwest and QuickBooks.

Here's how to get in touch with them:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?) at the top right.
  3. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.

I've also added this articles, What to do if you can’t find downloaded bank transactions for other troubleshooting steps you can perform.

Let me know how the contact goes by commenting below. I'm always around whenever you need help.

Hi there, @Bubbleboy

Thanks for your prompt response. I'd want to make sure you're able to view the outstanding balance on your Natwest personal credit card.

Most of the time, our browser's cache store temporary internet files that may cause issues over time.

It could be that this is a browser-related problem since you're able to see the balance correctly after disconnecting and reconnecting the account but went back to displaying the available balance again when you logged out.

To confirm, let's use incognito or private window since this does not store cookies and cache. On your Google Chrome browser, press together CTRL+SHIFT+N

Then, log in to QuickBooks and see if you're able to see the correct balance. If you do, I'd suggest you continue using the private window or use another updated, supported browser such as FirefoxSafari, or Microsoft Edge

If  it's still an issue, I'd like to confirm if you've connected your Natwest Personal credit card with QuickBooks through open banking via ClearSpend? This could be one of the reason as the above-mentioned procedure is applicable for a commercial credit card only and will cease bank feeds if you do.

I'd recommend you reconnect your account on the banking page in QuickBooks using an appropriate provider link instead.

If all else fails, contact our Customer Care team again and let them know the troubleshooting steps you've made. They will then gather your information to investigate the issue whenever necessary.

I'm always around here to help if you have more concerns. Stay safe.
