Thanks for getting back here, @qbdt_louise-palm. I've got here steps to ensure you'll be able to see the corresponding boxes to enter bank balance, date, and charges when reconciling your account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Yes, you'll need to disconnect the bank account by checking the Disconnect on this account on Save box. Then, select the Save and Close button. Once done, this will give you the option to enter your bank balance, date, and charges when performing the reconciliation. Please see the screenshots below for reference:
For more guidance in reconciling your account, feel free to visit this article: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.
When completed, the program will automatically create a report for that session so you can review the previous reconciliation data.
Please don't hesitate to post again here if you have any other about connecting about reconciling your account in QBO. I'm always here ready to lend a hand to help. Have a good one and take care.
Hi there, qbdt_louise-palm.
I'd be happy to help you with recording service charges when reconciling an account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Let's make sure to check whether the account is set up as a bank or credit card account. If it's not configured properly, this could be the reason why you're unable to view the service fee option on your account.
I've attached a screenshot for your reference.
After recording the service charge, you can now start reconciling your account. This should now match your account to your bank statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
You can add any details below if you need further assistance with recording the service charge. I'll be around to help you.
Thanks for the reply
I don't get the boxes underneath the balances and the date boxes at all. I get them on my petty cash and paypal accounts, and I know how to do the reconciliation of the accounts.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Welcome back, qbdt_louise-palm.
I can help share additional insights as to why you don't have the service fee option on your bank account when trying to reconcile it.
In QuickBooks Online, when accounts are connected to online banking, the Service Charge, Interest Earned, and Finance Charge fields do not appear. It's because these entries are downloaded automatically from your bank.
I also encourage you to check the learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks Online. This will guide you when you need help fixing a reconciliation and other tasks when reconciling your account.

Hi I don't use have my QB connected to my online banking as it won't match it the way I want it done. It is just that I'm not getting the options boxes on my reconciliation page that I need.
Just need someone to let me know why I don't get these boxes please
thanks
Louise

I don't have a problem reconciling the account asI know how to do this. I don't link into my online bank account as it doesn't match records as I want them. What I don't have is the boxes underneath where you fill in the bank balance and date where you would put in your bank charges, they appear on my petty cash and my paypal accounts but not on my bank account. This is the issue I have if anyone can help with this please?
Hi qbdt_louise-palm, thanks for getting back to us - what specific account type and detail type were used for the bank account?
It's just called Bank account and says cash at bank and in hand, the same as it does for Petty cash and paypal
thanks
The only thing I notice is that the bank account on the chart of account listings has a two way arrow underneath the "bank account" description whereas the other two do not. Do you know what this double arrow symbol means?
Thanks qbdt_louise-palm, this symbol means that there is a live connection to a bank (a connection will remain until disconnected, though the bank will stop sharing data once the authorization period has expired) - do any banks appear when navigating to the banking page?
Hi
If I go to Banking and Linked Accounts/Manage connections it says I don't have any linked accounts.
If I go to the edit section of Bank account in chart of accounts, it shows at the bottom - File upload Account and then a tick box Disconnect on this account on Save.
Does this help?
Thanks

Hi Divina
Just done that and yes now have the options to enter bank charges, much better than having to journal it in!
Thanks so much for your help
