Hello, @shin1.
I haven't found any ongoing investigation or issues with the problem you're having. For now, let's ensure that the multi-currency feature is turned on in your QuickBooks Online account. If it was and you're getting this problem, let's try manually importing the transactions with corresponding currencies. This helps us narrow down the cause of this unexpected behaviour. For your guide, check out this article.
If the currencies are still converted to GBP when manually importing the transaction/s, I encourage reaching out to our Support Team so they can check and take a look into this more closely.
I'm adding this link just in case you have any banking questions in the future.

The whole Paypal Open Banking integration is a nightmare. I've had issues since February and reported them to Support who just closed them. In the end I posted on the forum here:
Paypal Open Banking is completely broken, support don't want to know
Among other issues (like no Paypal transactions being imported (I had to manually create several thousand), duplicate payments not appearing, random old payments appearing) I too am seeing transactions in other currencies (USB and Euro) being converted directly in my local currency (GBP).
So invoices for $59.99 end up as £59.99 !
I presume that this is your problem. If so, I've been told by support that their Open Banking implimentation does not support transaction in other currencies. That's pretty disappointing as the old system used to so the new system is a backward step ....
Yep, paypal doesn't see mutliple curencies. They simply import everything as the base currency in PayPal. So in my case, all my CAD tx come in as USD and then get converted back to CAD since that is my home currency in QB.
PayPal supports multiple currencies and balances and QB should be able to easily support that. It's a shame they don't and could really be messing up a lot of books. Either note this on your import when connecting to PayPal or remove support for multiple currencies.
I have the same problem, PayPal used to import incorrectly (not recognising different currencies), and now it doesn't import at all.
I use Paypal in 3 currencies and ideally, QuickBooks should treat these separate currencies as separate accounts, in exactly the same way it handles separate accounts with other banking providers.
I think PayPal could be more helpful. Business bank accounts, in the UK at least, automatically convert foreign transaction amounts into the local currency and show that as the debited sum with the original currency shown as a detail in the description along with an exchange rate. PayPal shows the transaction in whatever currency the transaction took place, not helpful. If PayPal would show all transactions in the users local currency like other banks do we would not have this problem.
