I'm a self employed marketeer/coder living in the UK. 99% of my clients are outside the UK and require that I invoice them in dollars (agreements were made on hourly dollar rates for instance).
I have been unable to find a way to put dollars on my invoice? Can someone point me in the right direction?
I am using quickbooks self employed.
QBSE only supports single currency. Consider to open a Wise Business account and send invoices in USD from Wise to your clients. You will convert your USD balances to GBP easily and connecting it to your QBSE account.
I really can't be arsed with opening a new bank account. I'm a bit shocked that I can't do something as simple as send an invoice in a different currency.... Quickbooks is useless now for me.
Where can I get a refund?
Hello and welcome to the Community, searchoptimisers
It's correct that multicurrency isn't supported in QuickBooks Self-Employed UK. For the full list of available features, please see here.
If you purchased your subscription through Intuit, you can request a refund through our refund tracker. We are unable to give refunds for QuickBooks subscriptions purchased through a mobile app store like Google Play or Apple's App store. If you're billed by a third-party, you'll need to request a refund through the app store.
So there is no solution to this? Is there any higher tier that will allow me to do this? Will essentials tier allow me to send USD invoices? "Accept and make payments in different currencies"
Using the QuickBooks Online Essential tier will allow you to send USD invoices, searchoptimisers.
Since you've mentioned you're currently using QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), you can move your data from QBSE to QBO. Once done, we can proceed with sending invoices with different currencies.
To add a currency, you'll need to create a customer's profile. Also, it's important to note that once you activate this feature, all existing profiles and transactions will be updated to the new setup. I can guide you through the steps in enabling it.
Once this is turned on, we can now add different currencies. To do so, here's how.
When everything is settled, create and assign a currency to a customer.
You can now successfully send an invoice that contains USD currency.

I have only been using it for a few days, with minimal invoices, so i will probably just create the few invoices and such i have manually again.
My problem now is that I'm having an extremely hard time upgrading my account.
When I go to the "products and billing" page of the intuit account manager my whole browser freezes and I am unable to click "upgrade my plan".
I tried with three different browsers : opera, firefox and safari. Also tried a different machine alltogether.
