Can I claim for NI employment allowance for the previous year

I'm here to provide the two methods on how to claim the National Insurance (NI) Employment Allowance for last year, @Slav7

Claiming the NI Employment Allowance for the previous year through the program is available before or on April 19, 2020. This is the tax deadline set by the HMRC for making an EPS to them. It's because we want to make sure we're compliant with their rules and regulations. For more information, check out this article: Payroll Year End Key Dates 2019/2020

First, I'd suggest submitting an EPS directly to HMRC since it's beyond the tax due date. You can use the P32 report to serve as your reference when filing them manually. I'll guide you how.

  1. Go to Reports from the left menu.
  2. Enter Employment Payment Record (P32) in the Search box.
  3. Select the 2019-2020 button.
  4. Click OK to save or download the PDF report.

As a second option, you can use the HMRC's PAYE Online or Basic PAYE Tools. Then, refer to the report above as your guide. This way, you'll be able to claim the NI Employment Allowance for last year electronically.

Moving forward, I recommend enabling the Employment Allowance feature from the Payroll section. This way, you'll be able to process Employment Allowance and view their adjustments. Also, you can submit an EPS to HMRC for the current tax year 2020/21 through the software. To learn more about this process, go to this article: Set up Employment Allowance.

You can also visit this resource hub: QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll. It contains links about managing your employees, running payroll, submitting workplace pensions, and working with reports.

I'll be right here to help if you need further assistance. Take care always, @Slav7
