Can i remove the hourly rate and hours from payroll for salaried staff?

Why don't you just answer the question they are asking. Its obviously they are using QuickBooks Online, and all they want to do is not have the Stupid Hours showing on the Payslips !  (I wantto do the same thing)

I have just moved to QuickBooks Online from Desktop and i'm sure no one in Intuit actually uses it, as I have found so many annoying things !.

And no, I do not want to REACH OUT to anyone ! I'm British

The simple answer is no. This is how the Advanced Payroll software works now according to Quickbooks. The design team seem to have focused too much on feature-rich content in a drive to catch all business types, but seem to have forgotten things like simple usability for the end user. They also seem to have forgotten that there are small businesses who do not use time sheets or have hourly-based employees and only pay salaries. It is a real shame. In conclusion, I checked with Quickbooks support today, the only option seems to be in setting the salary as "fixed" with the monthly salary and the hours to "1". This change won't affect anything in the software since you will not be using the time sheet functionality or the data elsewhere. Its not ideal, but perhaps it may help.

I have the same problem, really don’t wanna show the hours on payslips.

Currently, removing the hours on your payslip isn't possible. Payslip contains a detailed breakdown of an employee's earnings. Having the option to remove the hours will defeat its; purpose in providing information.

I don’t think you get it ! If you pay someone a monthly salary that does not change, then the number of hours worked is not needed/never changes/waste of time etc etc. Why is this complicated to understand ? QB’s desktop didn’t show it !

Let's change the pay type of your employee to Salary so the Hourly rate will not show in the payslip. Let me show you how.

In your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account:

1. Go to the Employees menu.
2. Click the Employee tab
3. Select and click an employee.
4. Click the Employment details section.
5. Change Pay type drop-down menu to Salary.
6. Click Save.

Once done, you can now print your employee's payslip without the hourly rate.

Yes, the option to exclude the hours rate of the employee is unavailable. It is a required field when calculating the employee's wage. If you want to change the employee's pay rate, you can follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Employees menu and select the employee's name.
2. From the left menu, select Pay Run Defaults.
3. Under Primary Pay Category, change Hourly pay to Salary. 
4. Click Save at the bottom and then click X at the upper-right. 

If you want to know more about your payroll settings, just go to the Employees menu and click Payroll settings.

Have you actually tried this yourself... And i'm also getting confused as one person says you can't do it, and then the next person says you can.  As you can see from picture, it doesn't work what you are saying. 

So if you think it does, please upload a picture of the pay slip with it not showing., otherwise just say it doesn't. This is for the UK, not USA of anywhere else... UK. And its QuickBooks Advanced Payroll, on the Web, Cloud etc.

To confirm I am based in the UK, so my comments relate to UK QuickBooks online. I migrated from PaySuite, so I agree with the comments that this feature of automatically including "hours" and "hourly rate" for monthly salaried staff is ridiculous and rather cumbersome for many.  This is something in QuickBooks Advanced Payroll which is now just how the software has been designed - this is what I was told after I spoke with their support team yesterday. Having looked again at this at length, I think I may have found a simpler solution - not ideal - but may work for some.  You can try the following:

- Go to "Employee" -> "Payroll Settings"

- In the section "Pay Run Setting" -> "Pay Categories"

- Select "Salary" or "Basic Salary" or whichever it is that you have chosen as your monthly pay line item

- There you will see "Name" , "Units" and "Penalty Loading" displayed for this line item.

- Under "Penalty Loading" TICK the box "Hide Units on Payslips"

You will have to delete and re-run your current pay run for it to update.

The end result is the payslip will display NO Units and NO hour rates - However, there is nothing you can do about the hours calculation which will still appear on the payslip at the top right section, usually under the employee ID. Hope this helps.

Just to clarify, QuickBooks provided no answer here, the end user did! So no there is never anything else you can help with, your staff are so under trained its unreal.

To add to this post, I have some how managed to remove the hours paid from the top right of the payslip. Currently no idea how, however, will keep you updated when I know.
